Poly Varghese
Poly Varghese
Poly Varghese was initially trained in percussion in south Indian classical music. Later his interest and love for north Indian and folk music led him in playing Hindustani classical music on electric guitar.

A chance meeting with Grammy winner Pandit Viswa Mohan Bhatt made him fall head over heels in adoration with the Slide Guitar & Sitar combo instrument called Mohan Veena. Over a decade of study with the Master made him a truly international artist and musician performing over a hundred concerts.

Travels. Poly travelled and performed in Middle East, Europe, Asia, America, Mozart Chamber, Vienna, Gras in Austria and in over 43 countries. In 2017 he performed at Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival, UK.

Awards. In August 2013, Poly Varghese was invited by India International Center New Delhi (IIC Delhi) for prestigious Monsoon Music festival where he was awarded the prestigious Presidential award. In April 2018 He was again awarded Life time Achievement award.

Inventor. While perfecting and pursuing the depths of music with his guitar he developed his own inimitable style of improvisation. Poly’s unique experiences and experiments in creating music led him to develop the 40 stringed three-neck guitar which he has named "Poly String Guitar".

Folk. Having travelled and lived with Folk Baul singers of West Bengal, India, he loves to render high-pitched Baul songs. He also plays Kabeer songs and Rabindra Nath Tagore Poetry.
